It was Mr Husband’s birthday eve and we had our friends, who are family, at home to celebrate it. I ordered a cake with a cricket theme, as Mr Husband loves the sport and plays for a team in Delhi-Gurgaon. We all got dressed into our ‘white t-shirt theme’ clothes, although it was a co incidence that we all wore white, so we forced the birthday boy into doing the same( he killed me after that wen he saw his photos). All the glasses were filled for cheers and we waited for the celebration to begin. But the celebration is not complete with out a capture. So we kept all the glasses in front of Mr Husband and asked him to pose. And then to my horror, woosh, the breezer bottle fell on the white linen bedsheet that I had spread for the occasion. Ok!!! It was his birthday. I consoled myself and controlled my anger in the folds of laughter and again motivated him to be ready for the capture. And then again, woosh, this time the wine glass fell on the bedsheet at the same spot. I was blank. I couldn’t say a word because I knew that this time there is no saviour for the favourite white bedsheet I had.
Next day I searched the internet for all the cleaning hacks and I found so many of them. I realized that there are so many unsung heroes in our day to day utility items, where there actual talent is not known to us. And there, I also realized a very important fact that, to maintain a house is a very difficult and a tricky task. With a toddler at home, its even more difficult for me to maintain it. Some of these hacks should not only be known to me but to everyone to ease the work and headache. Aluminum Foil as Glassware Scrubber
To get baked-on food off a glass pan or an oven rack, use dishwashing liquid and a ball of foil in place of a steel-wool soap pad. It’s one way to recycle those used but perfectly good pieces of foil we hate to throw out. And also an easy way to clean our microwave, oven and its dishes without putting excess effort and time.
Baking Soda as Silver Polish
Wash items, then place on aluminum foil in the bottom of a pot. Add a baking-soda solution (¼ cup soda, a few teaspoons salt, 1 quart boiling water) and cover for a few seconds. The result?
